IT'S BEEN NOTHING BUT MUSIC, REAL LIFE, PHOTOS OF RL & A LITTLE FEMINISM AS A SIDE DISH
I am so not writing about fandom any more, it's sad! Really sad, I'm actually appalled by myself. This needs to change and I intend to start that change tomorrow, but for now a short round up of what I've blogged about in the past three months.... (WOW, so little. Damn!!) I also really need to write about Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light, because it is JUST TOO CUTE and has crowns. Crowns ♥!

STARTING WITH SOME MUSIC )
I played a bit Odin Sphere, and did not just use Gwendolyn to amuse myself - which I did last weekend at home ♥!! - but actually got further into Velvet's story. I actually defeated Wagner at the second attempt - which greatly surprised me because I am crap with Velvet - and the story bits made me appreciate her a bit more. It's not that she or her story are boring, I guess it is just that she did not intrigue me much when I saw her during the other's storylines and her own - while being pretty interesting and shedding light upon some things - is just not as compelling as the other ones were. What's pretty funny is that the chapter I played today also involved Gwendolyn and I ended up loving and pretty much adoring my favourite character of the game even more and while the chapter brought me closer to Velvet, too, Gwen just got infinitely more wonderful and tragic!

A friend and me had a huge and total fit of laughter!

DIE MINISTERIN SCHRÖDER RECHNET MIT DEM FEMINISMUS AB und DER MÄDCHENBLOG ANTWORTET.

Where the link to this comic comes from, I forgot but it is so SAD BUT TRUE you have to have a look at IN WHICH WE BETRAY OUR GENDER.

ETA:
ALICE SCHWARZER MELDET SICH ZU WORT und auch DER MÄDCHENBLOG GIBT NOCHMAL EINE ÜBERSICHT UND EIN KOPFSCHÜTTEL ZU DEM THEMA.

BEING ERICA: FINAL EPISODE

(no spoilers, so no worries)
It was PERFECT. I am truly sad that it was the final episode, but IMHO the series did everything right and it was the perfect ending for a great television series. I'm sad to have to live without Erica Strange now, but as Dr. Tom would say: "In the face of difficulty lies opportunity."

TODAY'S ROUND UP
METAFANDOM
A rant about slash, subtext metatext an solidarty by [personal profile] eumelia.

"I know you care for him as much as I do": about homoerotic subtext and slash and what it might mean for the heteronormative world if their heroes turned out to be gay. by [personal profile] bookshop.

Somehow I was reminded of the gorgeous article Your Friends Are Not Watching the Same Show You Are (And That's Okay). I also think that what [personal profile] resa answered to my question "Are there books/games/comics/... you don't want a movie adaptation of?":

Some future movie will probably prove me wrong some day, but right now I think there is none because I draw a clear line between books and movie adaptions thereof. Both media have advantages and disadvantages and if a movie adaption can use the advantages of being a movie well, chances are pretty high that I'll like it - even if it's completely different from the original book.

"Original"... Remember what I told you about translation in this guest lecture I heard last week (about the Human Rights)? If you see it like that, a book is nothing else than the realization of an idea in somebody's head; he has an idea and puts it, that is, translates it into a work of art. Funny thing to talk about "the original book" in the strictest sense then, right? It begins as an abstract idea and I would argue that's what we as readers or movie watchers translate it back to when we read or watch it.

And if I get a different kind of idea when I translate a movie adaption than from the book? It doesn't destroy the idea I got from the book first. I might not like it as much or even not at all, but I think translation, might it be text translation, from one language to another; might it be cultural translation, from one custom of one culture to another; or the translation from one medium to another - we need it, now more than ever. Even if it totally fails, because that's what makes us aware of the process. And that's important, right?

STRANGE THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN NARNIA
NARNIA! NARNIA! I forgot that 2010 is the year of the Dawn Treader movie. Anyway, I would like Caspian without a beard better but Edmund looks positively cute. Oh no, I am fairly sure my obsession with Skandar Keynes will start all over again this year...

IMDb says that I will have to wait until December to watch the movie, but... I CAN'T WAIT!

I LOVE TO LOVE: NOT ONLY THE INTERNET'S FOR PORN NOWADAYS
Without much ado these two games give you the opportunity to have gay sex. How neat is that? :)
Thanks Bioware for including it without a fuss ♥
(But OH I WANT WANK! The comments on youtube are wonderful and stupid enough, but good wank always makes my day ♥ Best comment on youtube (to the Dragon Age video): "now if only they had had this in Twilight Princess".)

Mass Effect:Lila and Femshepard Romance

First of all isn't Femshepard the most hilarious word EVER? Strange but funny compound.
The scene is nice too, although the version of Shepard is a bit ugly. I like Lila and one day when I am actually playing the game myself, I'll give her a prettier Shepard :D

Dragon Age: Sex with Zevran

Haha, he IS funny! Give him some boots and he'll give you pleasure in exchange. Not too bad a deal, is it? I like it. Although I still need to get used to his accent (Spanish elves? What are the French, dwarfs? That would be funny, but they countries in DA might as well be mixed race countries, I have no clue.)
Is the PS3 version of the game any good?* Or shall I wait for the day I'll finally have an XBox360 to play Dragon Age.
* If it's good I know what daddy's (AND MY!) christmas present will look like...

OH LOOK IT'S A CID. (AND WHAT A SHINY CID IT IS.)

Following [personal profile] halcyonjazz's thought: If you can determine the quality of a Final Fantasy on the 'quality' of it's Cid... OH BLISS! OH JOY! ;D
(For this one I'd rather measure the quality of the game on Lightning, Hope (oh boy, Larsa syndrome!) and, of course, the Eidolon. Alexander, Odin and Bahamut are stunning and I've always been in love with the Esper/Bestia/Guardian Forces/Summoned Beasts/...)

"& that was the third time I died."
UNSKIPPABLE: WATCH! WATCH! WATCH!

Utterly in love with those guys ♥!

Something else entirely:
Voluptuous & sexy Gemma Arterton
Thanks for not being a skinny bitch and still looking this good ♥

Very related to that:
Prince of Persia Movie Trailer
HER VOICE & HER PRETTY ♥! But it's not only that ;) The action looks good, the costumes are neat, the special effects seem solid and the setting as well and while I am not enjoying the looks of the Prince to much, I really enjoy the bad guy's... Oh and the music's epic too, what's more to love? Looks like a movie I'll enjoy!
(I also want the newest PoP game like NOW...)
